COOKING WITH GASTON is an illustrated graphic novel/cookbook for kids featuring the character Gaston Baptiste, star of the film Sgt. Stubby (originally voiced by Gérard Depardieu).

Using ingredients commonly found in North American supermarkets, the easy-to-read stories take kids through classic French dishes – highlighting the cuisine of the Provence region – and also include vocabulary lessons + tips for sustainable gardening.

The video series features voiceover by BAFTA-winning actor Cissy Jones (The Owl House, Firewatch) reading a story about Gaston and his family’s restaurant, with illustrations by Tracy Bailey (Oddly Normal) which I keyframe animated.

Filmed during the 2020 pandemic, each story is followed by a live-action demo starring my family in our home kitchen—now better known as the Bongo Bakehouse!
